Bana Ba Letsatsi’s New Building
BBL currently cares for 145 orphans and vulnerable children from Maun and the surrounding settlements. More than 35 primary school dropouts who were eligible for the rehabilitation program were turned away this year due to financial constraints, strict covid regulations and shortage of classroom space, hence our race to build a fully-fledged education department that will accommodate these well deserving orphaned and vulnerable children and give them a second chance in life.
In the past, BBL has relied heavily on financial support from Botswana's safari industry but the crippling impact of Covid and the associated travel restrictions has forced these companies to cut their donations, leaving a funding hole which needs to be filled, both from an operational perspective and in terms of building the new centre. All funds raised will go directly towards BBL both to help finish building the new centre and to ensure the children continue to be fed, clothed, cared for, counselled and educated.
The new building will create an improved, safe environment to support children's rehabilitation and learning, and promote a sense of community and belonging for their children. However, reduced funding in the last two years have forced us to postpone many elements of the new building until we can raise more money. These include classrooms, a library, counselling rooms, dining hall and kitchen.
We can do it, but we can’t do it alone - It takes a village to raise a child – and we need you to help us house and nurture that child.
1 x Counselling room costs $13,000
1x Library costs $15,000
1 x Classroom costs $18,000
1 x Dining Hall and kitchen costs $56,000
Target to complete the new building $200,000.
